Flexible Healthcare Leadership Course for Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners

As a new, aspiring, or seasoned leader in healthcare, you’ll learn how to more effectively manage teams and care for patients through Bryant University’s Principles of Leadership in Healthcare course. It’s a practical course developed so that you can apply new leadership skills to your practice immediately. The instructor incorporates modeling and mirroring exercises to increase confidence, helping you to inspire colleagues and resolve conflicts.

Course Requirements

Consisting of eight weeks of guided learning, the course includes multimedia, interactive modules, curated readings, and meetings with the instructor as requested. You should expect to spend approximately 6-7 hours per week on coursework and assignments.

First-time online learner? “Strategies for Success” is a one-week module that will familiarize you with our learning system before you begin your certificate program and ensure you are ready to participate. Required for all first-time, self-paced Bryant learners.

Meet Your Instructor: Michael Gerlach

Michael Gerlach, DMS, MSPA, PA-C, is a physician assistant who works for Southcoast Physicians Group Urology in Massachusetts. As an advanced practice coordinator, Gerlach manages scheduling, training programs, and clinical protocols, leading teams to efficiently deliver high-quality care. As the first PA to serve on the Board of Governors for Southcoast, he helps resolve issues and provides input on new policies. He also writes and reviews exam questions for the national Physician Assistant boards. He is a clinical adjunct faculty member for the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, a visiting clinical instructor for Regis College, and an adjunct instructor at Bryant University. Gerlach earned a B.S. in Biology and M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies from Seton Hall University.
